Mechanical Music Machines
Until the 1930s the mechanical performance of music was dominated by Organs, Music Boxes, Polyphonics, Monophones, Aristons, Orchestrions, Pianola, Phonography. The collection includes items, which are used predominantly from the middle of the 19th, and the beginning of the 20th Century. Playing the musical instrument always requires a certain talent, which not everyone has. Therefore, mankind strived to construct a musical instrument, or rather a device, which would not require special skills and musical education. The idea to produce music with the help of an exact mechanism could only be fully developed when the hour-glass, oil and water clock were replaced by clock-work, which became the basic driving mechanism of the automated music mechanism.
